Ivy was feeling very pleased with herself. She had heard through the grapevine that Ginger had divorced her husband. Ginger and Ivy were sort of friends – they knew each other and ran in the same circles. However Ginger was a successful professional with almost everything – looks, wealth and loads of friends. Not to mention an equally rich, loving and good-looking husband. Ivy envied her terribly and found fault with anything and everything that Ginger did or wore. No one else would have thought that Ivy harbored such resentment and envy; each time she met up with Ginger, she was all sweetness!

Now that she heard Ginger had divorced her husband, she felt a sense of smugness. Didn’t she mention earlier to her husband, Lou, that no couple could be that perfect? And wasn’t it true that Ginger’s husband, Allen, had a roving eye? Why, once he had tried to be fresh with her, teasing her about her dress? And now Ginger was joining the dating websites, scouting for dates and prospective husbands! Unbelievable!

When Lou came back from work, she was bursting with news. She had been angry with Lou when he openly stared at Ginger; he was always praising Ginger about her looks and capability. Lou was surprised at the news, for Ginger and her former spouse seemed to be the perfect couple – they treated each other with respect and love. Both were adorable people, nice and fun to be with. Not like him and Ivy; he could not imagine his wife being frisky and fun! He remembered Ivy telling him about Allen’s roving eyes, and how he had tried to flirt with her! ‘Oh boy’, Lou thought. Anyone who tried to flirt with Ivy must be really desperate, and Allen was definitely not in that league. Furthermore, he didn’t take it seriously – Ivy tended to read more in a gesture, especially when it comes to men-women relationship. She assumed that anyone who looked twice at her would soon arrive at her door-step with a proposal.

Interesting that Ginger was scouting the dating websites – perhaps he could meet her in one of his favorite dating websites. It is best to approach her in one of his online personas; otherwise if Ivy got to hear about this, she would be nagging and sniveling about his ingratitude, bad taste and what-not!
