I am Lilian and I am a forty two year old widow. It has been eight long years since I lost my husband and decided that I will never love another man again. My friend Frances always tells me that I have to meet men and start to date again but I refused the idea. She said that dating men is just being sociable and it is also a good way to give myself a break from daily routine. I believe though that dating men is not something that will interest me anymore.

Frances is my best friend. We have been friends for three decades now. We have been through a lot in life and we understand each other very well. We consider ourselves soul sisters.

Last night was a night full of anxiety and feelings that i cannot really comprehend. Frances rang me and told me that I need to come to her house tonight because her office mates are coming over for dinner and her office mate Simon wants to see me. I remember the first time I met Simon when I dropped by at Frances' office one day. He accompanied me for lunch because Frances cannot leave her desk at that time due to loads of work. Simon and I have the same interest and passion with arts. We both paint and we are both photography enthusiasts. He is also good-looking and very respectful person. I loved the way he touched my back to lead me to the door or hold my hands to make sure I am safe when we are on the stairs. I felt attractive, beautiful and sexy during that time we were having lunch together. We also felt so comfortable with each other. I will always remember when he asked me if I was dating men. I said no. Simon said "so now you can start dating me", and we both laugh. Inside me I had this cheeky thought "I would not prefer dating men, I just want to date you, only you."

I have to get ready now before Lilian comes to pick me up. As I look at the mirror and do final retouch of my make-up, I can see a younger woman on the mirror. Her face is blooming and her eyes speak happiness and hope.

Finally, I heard three knocks on my door. As I opened the door, I did not find Frances there. I saw Simon smiling at me with a bunch of flowers.

This is going to be an unforgettable night.
